Heidi Pratt was hospitalized following a three-day stint in which she and husband Spencer Pratt were locked in a dark room filled with rats, snakes and insects for three days. The extreme reality series features a number of B-list stars, including Sanjaya Malakar of 'American Idol' and two Baldwins. The Pratts were locked in the room because they wanted to leave the show but had a change of heart and begged to stay. Sister-in-law Stephanie broke the news that Heidi Pratt was hospitalized via her [Twitter feed](http://twitter.com/stephaniepratt/status/2060364365). We're still waiting back from [NBC](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wordle-game-show) and the Pratts' reps as to why Heidi Pratt was hospitalized, but [E!](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocktail-wars) writes that various reports cite a stomach infection as the cause. Has NBC gone too far with this reality show stunt, or did the Pratts have it coming? Weigh in below, and see highlights from the episode in which Speidi threw in the towel above. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 93% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Extreme Reality Show Stunts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop safer and more controlled environments for reality show challenges, ensuring the health and safety of participants. - **Celebrity Social Media Updates:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create new platforms or tools that allow celebrities to share updates and communicate with their fans in real-time. - **Controversial Reality Show Concepts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore provocative and boundary-pushing ideas for reality TV that can capture audiences' attention and generate buzz. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce cutting-edge technologies, immersive experiences, and interactive elements to enhance entertainment industry offerings. - **Social Media:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced analytics tools and algorithms to provide real-time monitoring and analysis of celebrities' social media activities. - **Television Production:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies into television production to create immersive and interactive viewing experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fan-Powered Reality Competitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pretzel-crust-island.md) - [Reality TV-Branded Snack Crackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheezit-reality-tv-collectors-cheddition.md) - [Functional Shot Brand Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ryde-x-heidi-montag.md) - [Kitchen-Themed Rage Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-nightmares.md) - [Horror-Themed Overnight Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warner-bros-icons-of-horror.md) - [Reality TV Cosmetic Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/it-cosmetics-keep-it-real-campaign.md) - [Animated Pop Revival Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paris-pups.md) - [Reality TV-Themed Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-slc-scoop.md) - [Spoof Cosmetics Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/americas-next-top-primer.md)
