# Oversized Outdoor Dolls The Heather Benning Field Doll is Larger than Life By Gil Cohen | Published 2012-09-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heather-benning-field-doll References: [heatherbenning](http://www.heatherbenning.ca/theworks/fielddoll/fielddoll.html) The Heather Benning Field Doll is a [giant creation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/15foot-inflatable) shaped to look just like a child's toy that is then placed and photographed outdoors. Located in a field or a parking lot, this project appears to be a discarded toy, left lying limp on the ground with no one to play with it. The haphazard placement of the arms and legs, pointing every which way, emphasizes the [abandoned doll](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-for-good) aspect of this [colossal creation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer). A flat field provides a great contrast for the bulky doll, making it stand out from its surroundings. The big blue eyes of the Heather Benning Field Doll stare out blankly, as if the doll is waiting for some giant baby to come and resume its game. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Live Arts](https://www.trendhunter.com/livearts) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Giant Doll Sculptures:** There is an opportunity to disrupt the traditional art space by creating more oversized sculptures inspired by objects from everyday life. - **Interactive Outdoor Art:** An opportunity exists to create interactive public art installations that can greatly impact the community and make for great social media photos and opportunities. - **Use of Field Space for Art Installations:** Empty fields and parking lots can be utilized for innovative and engaging art installations and performances. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Fine Art:** This trend can greatly impact the fine art industry by introducing new and unconventional ways of creating art and displaying artwork. - **Tourism:** Interactive outdoor art installations can attract tourists and boost local economies that are looking for unique experiences. - **Event Planning:** Empty fields and parking lots are great locations for outdoor events, including art exhibits, festivals and concerts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Oversized Pupper Fashion Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giant-puppets.md) - [Sensorial Anime Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bedhedz.md) - [Collectable Sculptural Doll Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inedible-doll.md) - [Oversized Baking Mascot Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillsbury-doughboy-installation.md) - [Folk Creature Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog.md) - [Iconic Bag-Inspired Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-birk.md) - [30-Foot Tall Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/megasize-roxie.md) - [Two-Sided Paper Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/megadolls.md) - [Miniaturized Doll Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-barbieland.md)
