# Communal Fireplace Coffee Tables The Conceptual 'Hearth' Coffee Table Offers Soothing Heat By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2022-01-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-coffee-table References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2022/01/11/a-coffee-table-that-holds-an-electric-fireplace-is-the-ultimate-winter-essential/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=a-coffee-table-that-holds-an-electric-fireplace-is-the-ultimate-winter-essential) & [industrialcraft](https://www.industrialcraft.com/) Gathering around the coffee table is a far more common social activity these days than gathering around the fireplace, so the conceptual '[Hearth](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-display)' coffee table is intended to help strike a balance between the two. Designed by Maximillian Burton of the California-based [Industrial Craft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/todd-bracher) design studio, the coffee table features an unassuming construction that could be easily incorporated into any modern living space. The unit, however, would provide soothing heat from the base and a glowing appearance from the upper section to mimic the experience of sitting near a fireplace hearth. The conceptual 'Hearth' coffee table would function as the perfect piece of furniture for urbanites without a fireplace to help them enjoy an old-fashioned pastime in a modern way. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 11% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Retrofuturistic Furniture:** Creating furniture that combines nostalgic designs with modern technology will provide an innovative and unique offering for consumers. - **Multifunctional Furniture:** Expanding the use of furniture to provide more than one function such as heating and storage will appeal to consumers who value practicality and functionality. - **Smart Home Furniture:** Integrating innovative technology such as voice-activated controls and personalized settings into furniture will revolutionize how people interact with everyday household items. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** Furniture manufacturers can capitalize on this trend by creating innovative and unique pieces that offer consumers both practicality and nostalgia. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate multifunctional and smart home furniture into their design plans to offer clients a more functional and integrated home environment. - **Home Automation:** Companies that specialize in home automation can expand their offerings to include smart furniture that integrates with their existing systems and takes automation to the next level. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Mixed-Material Tabletop Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brasscene-harmony-flame-fireplace.md) - [Artful Coffee Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertushka.md) - [Volcanically Inspired Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magma-coffee-table.md) - [Candle Coffee Warmers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warmer-concept.md) - [Slick Modern Holographic Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holographic-fireplace.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Dynamic Interaction Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigmasurface.md)
