# Piercing Oil Painting Portraits The Harding Meyer Large-Scale Artworks are Stunning By Cody Turner | Published 2012-09-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harding-meyer References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2012/09/stunning-oil-portraits-by-harding-meyer/) & [hardingmeyer.tumblr](http://hardingmeyer.tumblr.com/) [Harding Meyer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meadow-house) is a painter who has been creating some amazing large-scale oil portraits that you really need to see up close to appreciate the vast detail that goes into each piece. Meyer is a Brazilian-born artist who works and lives in Karlsruhe and Berlin. He has been painting these portraits for a number of group shows that he will be participating in later this year at the Museum Dr. Guislain and Würth and the Arts in Gent. The part that intrigues me the most about Harding Meyer's paintings is his use of large brush strokes that almost give his portraits a very Vincent Van Gogh feel to them. You can view the photos in high resolution on his blog to see all of them in greater detail. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 81% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Large-scale Portrait Painting:** Opportunity to explore and innovate on new techniques and styles for creating large-scale portrait paintings. - **Expressive Brush Strokes:** Opportunity to experiment with expressive and unconventional brush strokes to create unique portraits. - **High-resolution Art:** Opportunity to create and display high-resolution digital versions of artwork for online exhibitions and sales. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fine Art:** Innovations in large-scale portrait painting and expressive brush strokes can drive growth in the fine art industry. - **Online Art Sales:** Growing popularity of high-resolution digital art can drive innovation and growth in the online art sales industry. - **Museum Exhibitions:** Innovations in large-scale portrait painting can lead to exciting museum exhibitions and new art experiences for visitors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Striking Glass Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-portraits.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Medicine-Inspired Artful Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/something-for-the-pain.md) - [Reimagined Puzzled Artful Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portrait-of-a-woman-in-a-hat.md) - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md) - [Public Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-anthony-smith.md) - [3D-Printed Colorful Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olivier-van-herpt-1.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md)
