# Handicraft Pendant Lights The 'Futura' Hanging Lighting Design Draws Inspiration from Many Sources By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-12-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hanging-lighting-design References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/12/15/a-timeless-yet-futuristic-lamp/) & [hangar.it](http://hangar.it/) The 'Futura' hanging lighting design is the design work of Hangar Design and Vistosi, and creates a somewhat modern aesthetic that is achieved by utilizing a series of processes. The 'Futura' lights feature a transparent upper portion that is paired with a translucent bottom section, which work together in contrast to create an inviting lighting design. This allows the light from the unit to bounce off of the various angles and surfaces in order to create a lighting scheme that's inherently inviting yet contemporary. The 'Futura' hanging light design has been designed in a number of different color styles including copper, black and brown. The processes that have been utilized in order to create the lights have been kept unpublished to further enhance the aesthetic appeal of the modern lighting designs. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Transparent Lighting Designs:** Opportunity for designers to create innovative lighting designs that utilize transparent materials for a modern aesthetic. - **Contrasting Surfaces:** Incorporating contrasting surfaces in lighting designs to create interesting lighting schemes that are both inviting and contemporary. - **Unpublished Design Processes:** Opportunity for designers to keep the design processes of their products unpublished to enhance the aesthetic appeal and allure of their creations. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Incorporating unique lighting designs in interior design projects to create modern and inviting spaces. - **Home Decor:** Providing consumers with access to innovative pendant lights that feature transparent materials and contrasting surfaces to enhance the aesthetics of their living spaces. - **Artisan Crafts:** Combining traditional crafts and modern design techniques to create pendant lights that are both functional and visually appealing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mixed Material Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gant-pendant-lights.md) - [Plant Pod-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nature-inspired-pendant-light.md) - [Recycled Material Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zbozhzha-pendant-light.md) - [Origami-Inspired Suspended Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sora-pendant-light.md) - [Encapsulated Semi-Transparent Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nested-pendant-light.md) - [Dazzling Polyhedral Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puff-pendant-lights.md) - [Glassmaking Tubular Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flare-light.md) - [Intricate Sculptural Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light.md) - [Mouth-Blown Glass Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-pendant-light.md)
