# Hand-Held Shredders The Paper-Pipe Makes Getting Rid of Incriminating Evidence Easy By Marissa Liu | Published 2009-09-29 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hand-held-paper-shredder References: [spoon-tamago](http://www.spoon-tamago.com/2009/09/09/paper-pipe-shredder-by-ryoji-takahashi/) & [idsite.co.jp](http://idsite.co.jp/compe_en/generalcomment.html) The winner of the 2009 id Design Awards was Ryoji Takahashi who created this awesome hand-held paper shredder. The Paper-Pipe Shredder (which is the name of this unique device) is small enough to quaintly rest on any desk or be carried around discreetly in your bag should you need to immediately shred any incriminating evidence. In the past paper shredders have been known to be big, bulky and ugly. Takahashi’s ingenious hand-held paper shredder can help you not only to save on your electricity bill, but also the means to look good while shredding paper. Hopefully this winning design gets commercialized and will be available for purchase soon. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Portable Paper Shredders:** Opportunity to develop smaller, more discreet paper shredders for personal use. - **Design Innovation:** Potential for innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs in the paper shredder industry. - **Eco-friendly Shredding:** Demand for energy-efficient paper shredders that help reduce electricity consumption. ### Who This Affects Most - **Office Supplies:** Office supply companies can capitalize on the demand for portable paper shredders. - **Product Design:** Opportunity for designers to create innovative and stylish paper shredders. - **Green Technology:** Eco-friendly companies can develop energy-efficient alternatives to traditional paper shredders. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper Waste Reduction Printers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handheld-printer-concept.md) - [Two-Way Cutter Scissors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hakoake-portable-scissors.md) - [Industrial Handheld Printer Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scribe-handheld-printer.md) - [3D-Printed Paper Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-knives.md) - [Mini Handheld Graters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palm-grater.md) - [Miniature Handheld Graters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/irogami-grater.md) - [Minimalist Eco-Friendly Ice Shavers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ice-shaver-concept.md) - [Cubic Handheld Vacuum Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dust-box-vacuum-cleaner.md) - [Hardcover Handloom Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xiu-this-book-can-be-weaving.md)
