# Intentionally Fractured Cabinet Furniture The Halsey Fracture Cabinet Highlights Uneven Edges By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2019-07-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halsey-fracture-cabinet References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2019/07/18/this-accidental-lightning-bolt-design-detail-doubles-up-as-the-cabinets-handles/) & [piethoutenbos](https://www.piethoutenbos.com/) The Halsey Fracture Cabinet is a demure furniture solution that highlights an uneven aesthetic instead of focusing on a completely symmetrical design. Created by Piet Houtenbos, the [cabinet is crafted from walnut](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nick-james) and features a somewhat simple cubic frame from afar, but reveals a set of slightly obscured doors on the front upon closer inspection. The edges of the doors are covered in a [durable brass lining](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/through-chrome-reflections) that adds a touch of shine, while also highlighting the lightning bolt-like closure that offers a peek inside at the storage area. The Halsey Fracture Cabinet features the angular accent thanks to a [computer modeling design process accident](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trama-collection), which was embraced by Houtenbos to highlight the error as a high-end design feature. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Uneven Aesthetics in Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture designers to disrupt the market by embracing intentional asymmetry and unconventional designs. - **Obscured Door Designs:** Potential for furniture manufacturers to create hidden door elements that add intrigue and surprise to their products. - **Accidental Design Features:** Chance for designers to transform unexpected errors into distinctive design elements that enhance the overall appeal of their creations. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to incorporate intentionally fractured designs into their product lines. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Potential for furniture manufacturers to create unique and visually captivating furniture pieces using unconventional design elements. - **Interior Design:** Chance for interior designers to incorporate intentionally fractured furniture pieces into their designs to create a visually striking and eclectic aesthetic. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Tropical Island-Inspired Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weaver-cabinet.md) - [Minimal Four-Legged Wooden Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exposure-cabinet.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md) - [Stylish Oakwood Storage Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moose-cabinet.md) - [Cabinet-Concealed Modern Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obelisk-3.md) - [Wooden Textural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corrugated-furniture.md) - [Elegantly Crafted Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keyhole-collection.md)
