# Circular Modular Lighting The Halo Light by Stephanie Ng Fits Together Using Magnets By Meghan Young | Published 2013-12-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halo-light References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/12/01/halo-light-by-stephanie-ng/) & [stephaniengdesign](http://www.stephaniengdesign.com/) The [Halo Light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halo-house) is a [modular light fixture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crystal-links) that is circular in more than one way. At least, if it is arranged in a circular pattern. The moving parts that make up the whole are themselves this shape, which gives the overall design a visually striking aesthetic. Of course, although it can take on a straight line, the name of the Halo Light suggests its proper formation. Designed by Stephanie Ng, a designer based in Melbourne, Australia, the Halo Light is made out of spun steel. Each piece has a [magnet on one side](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nekospace-orchard) in order for it to fit into each other snugly. Especially great for public spaces including offices, lobbies and hotels, the Halo Light runs on LED light bulbs and consumes very little energy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Circular Modular Lighting:** Modular, magnetized components that fit together through circular forms make for customizable lighting design. - **Sustainable Design:** Incorporating energy-efficient LED bulbs and eco-friendly materials into modular designs supports sustainable design practices. - **Smart Lighting:** Modular designs with customizable lighting solutions have the potential to be integrated into smart home systems. ### Where This Applies - **Architectural Design:** Modular lighting can be integrated into modern building designs and customized for public spaces and lobbies. - **Interior Design:** Modular lighting designs can be used to make striking installations in private residences and commercial spaces. - **Home Automation:** Smart lighting can be incorporated into home automation systems, allowing for customizable, energy-efficient lighting solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular LED Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ilo-lamp.md) - [Customizable Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-magnetic-lamp.md) - [Infinitely Expandable Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table-lamp.md) - [Curved Pendant Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-light.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Diffused Halo Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/radient-reimagined.md) - [Circular Hollow Timeless Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lost-collection.md) - [Structural Modular Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table.md) - [Astro-Inspired Sculptural Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elara-suspension.md)
