The cabin is an [angular black structure](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stay-under-the-radar) that rests within trees and merges right into the natural landscape that it is surrounded by. It is defined by a large living space and has a [steel sloping roof](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-a-frame), and invites light with the floor-to-ceiling windows. Patrick speaks about the cabin, stating that it is “A stunning 40-minute ferry ride from West Vancouver, the home is close to the city but feels like a world away. Our intention was to create a world that we could retreat to, with rules that are different from everyday life. The architecture and the landscape were to be combined in a way that lets a visitor feel natural, unpretentious, unburdened, free.” Image Credit: Fritz de Vries Architects ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 15% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Black Angular Architecture:** The trend of angular black architecture can create opportunities for architects and designers to offer unique solutions that merge natural landscapes with modern living. - **Retreat Homes:** As people seek refuge from their everyday hectic lives, the trend of creating homes that create natural, relaxing spaces is an area of disruptive innovation. - **Floor-to-ceiling Windows:** The trend toward large floor-to-ceiling windows provides opportunities for architects and designers to create spaces that blur the lines between indoors and outdoors. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can leverage the trend of angular black structures and floor-to-ceiling windows to create modern homes that integrate with the natural environment. - **Real Estate:** The trend of creating retreat-style homes can create new opportunities to develop unique properties that provide a natural and restful living experience. - **Construction:** The trend of floor-to-ceiling windows and angular designs presents new challenges and opportunities for construction crews, contractors, and building materials manufacturers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Angular Black Cantilevered Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tallowwood-cabin.md) - [Blackened Timber Tranquil Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hideaway-house.md) - [Tranquil Seasonal Canadian Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-cabin.md) - [Contemporary A-Frame Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buoy-bay.md) - [Dark-Green Minimal Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scalar-architecture.md) - [Locally Sourced Angular Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/straw-flea-house.md) - [Tranquil Nature-Centric Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nortehaus.md) - [Tranquil Cozy Canadian Cottages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-rock-cottage.md) - [Miniature Seaside Wooden Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alexander-mcgee.md)
