# Skateboard Ramp Escritoires The Half Pipe Desk is Inspired by Youthful Jaunts in the Skate Park By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-04-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/half-pipe-desk References: [materialicious](http://www.materialicious.com/2013/04/half-pipe-desk-by-pfeiffer-lab.html) & [dailydesignjoint](http://dailydesignjoint.com/Half_Pipe_Desk/36912) Eric Pfeiffer of Pfeiffer Lab designed the Half Pipe Desk based on the inspiration from some of his fondest memories skateboarding as a child. Designed to look like a half pipe skating ramp, the plywood tabletop is curved up at the edges for a creatively modern look that is also functional. No [pens or pencils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dumpstuder-pencil-holders) will roll off the sides of this desk, while a small shelf and storage unit allows for organization of documents and different office supplies. The compact design is a good fit for smaller spaces, working well in an office cubicle as well as a child's bedroom. Infuse youthful playfulness into the workspace with the Half Pipe Desk from Pfeiffer Lab. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Skateboard-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture inspired by skateboarding culture can create a unique and playful product line. - **Functional Design for Small Spaces:** Creating furniture with both design and functionality in mind can be an innovative solution for those with limited space, meeting the needs of a growing demographic. - **Customizable Workspaces:** Designing furniture that can be personalized to fit a user’s individual style and needs can offer a competitive edge in an increasingly crowded market. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can capitalize on skateboard-inspired designs like the Half Pipe Desk to appeal to younger and more design-conscious consumers. - **Office Supplies Retail:** Retailers who offer functional and playful workspace solutions like the Half Pipe Desk can stand out in a crowded market and appeal to consumers seeking unique office products. - **Interior Design:** Interior design professionals can integrate skateboard-inspired products into their projects to create a custom and playful space for clients who want a unique and personalized look. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Play-Friendly Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-concept.md) - [Knick-Knack Storage Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiky-desk-concept.md) - [Futuristic Sculptural Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-desk.md) - [Fold-Away Sleek Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk.md) - [Hyper-Customizable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypercustomizable-desk.md) - [Pocket Storage-Equipped Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-desk.md) - [Industrial Metal-Framed Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-field-desk.md) - [Floating Architectural Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1949-protractor-desk.md) - [Humorous Quick Cleanup Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk-concept.md)
