# Pleasurable Posh Prisons Norway'S Halden Prison Features Art and Flat-Screen TVs in Every Ce By Brian G Randles | Published 2010-03-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halden-prison References: [fastcompany](http://www.fastcompany.com/1566988/norways-incredibly-luxurious-halden-prison-1-million-of-art-and-flat-screen-tvs-in-every-cel) & [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5482558/if-i-ever-get-sent-to-jail-i-hope-its-to-norways-halden-prison) Thanks, Norway. You just one-upped my studio apartment with a prison. Halden Prison is a posh palace for the societal refuse of Norway. And it contains the following items: Training room; chapel; library; family visiting unit; football/soccer field; a school; [sound studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-sound); and $1 million in art (most by Banksy-esque graffiti artist Dolk); [private bathroom in every cell](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bob-w-stockholm); window with view in every cell; and a [flat-screen TV in every cell](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wayne-county-criminal-justice-center). RIDICULOUS! To be fair, Halden Prison is more for rehabilitation than punishment (as is the Nor Way… Get it?), but come on! I almost want to go rob someone in Norway just so I can finally get a flat-screen. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 97% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Luxury Prisons:** There is an opportunity in the luxury prison trend to provide better rehabilitative and restorative solutions. - **Art in Prisons:** The trend of incorporating art in prisons creates opportunities for inmate expression and therapeutic outlets. - **Technology in Prisons:** There is an opportunity to utilize technology in prisons to enhance education, skills training, and communication for inmates. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Correctional Facilities:** The correctional facility industry can explore providing better living accommodations and rehabilitation programs for inmates. - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can engage in partnerships with prisons to provide opportunities for artistic expression and create meaningful creative outlets. - **Technology:** The technology industry can develop specialized software and hardware solutions to facilitate inmate education and communication, making prisons more effective and efficient institutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Prison-Transformed Luxe Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoshino-resort.md) - [Prison-Converted Affordable Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cookfox-architects.md) - [Arctic Floating Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-vipp-guesthouse.md) - [Maximalist Norwegian Design Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/visdal-transformed-le-fumoir.md) - [Communal Wooden Peninsula Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotspot.md) - [Patient-Aiding Concept Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karmy-pilot-homes.md) - [Welcoming Prefabricated Student Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ignacio-prego-architectures.md) - [One-Star Hotel Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-star-hotel-riklin.md) - [Slate-Clad Prefab Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1807-holiday.md)
