Polly gave the semi-detached house, located in Sydney, Australia, a fresh update and [new addition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henville-street-house). The goal was accomplished utilizing the existing roof plane and extending it for an open-plan volume. The architect explains, "An arrangement of fine steel plate supports and highlight windows march along the entire low roof, bridging the high and low roofs and wrapping to the rear to enable access to natural ventilation, views to neighboring landscapes, sky and natural light." The end result is a home that blurs the line between indoors and outdoors for greater appreciation of the natural elements ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Nature-integrated Design:** Architects and designers are continuously exploring how to create structures which seamlessly integrate nature and modern-day comforts. - **Indoor-outdoor Living:** Homeowners are looking for ways to bring the outdoors inside through design and architecture. - **Sustainable Architecture:** Sustainability in design is becoming a top priority for architects and this trend is only expected to grow in the near future. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can create innovative home designs to meet the growing demand for nature-integrated and sustainable architecture. - **Construction and Engineering:** Construction and engineering firms can use these trends to influence how they approach new home construction projects. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers can capitalize on the trend of indoor-outdoor living and market properties that emphasize natural elements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Living Landscape Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hedge-and-arbour-house.md) - [Sleek Garden-Edge Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waverley-house.md) - [Contemporary Nature-Inspired Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebo-house.md) - [Hillside Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sky-house-1.md) - [Hilltop Modern Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cloud-house.md) - [Nature-Inspired Bungalow Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maurpankhi.md) - [Lush Surroundings Glass Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-house-1.md) - [Coastal Island Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasparakisfriel.md) - [Reimagined Postmodern Residence](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alder-house.md)
