# Wire Base Armchairs The Hai Lounge Chair by Luca Nichetto is an Example of Flatpack Furniture By Meghan Young | Published 2013-02-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hai-lounge-chair References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/hai-lounge-chair-by-luca-nichetto-for-one-nordic-furniture-company/) & [onenordic](http://www.onenordic.com/products/hai-lounge-chair/hai-lounge-chair-grey) The Hai Lounge Chair embraces the clean lines of contemporary furniture without compromising the traditional comfort of the [classic armchair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monk-armchair). While the top portion resembles the strong lines of the latter, the [wire base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept) is something else altogether. It adds an airy aesthetic that makes it appear lightweight. This is helpful considering that the Hai Lounge Chair is a flatpack piece of furniture. Designed by Italian designer Luca Nichetto for One Nordic Furniture Company, the Hai Lounge Chair boasts a [folding backrest](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair) that makes shipping much easier. The hinges allowing this are concealed. It is worth noting that the Hai Lounge Chair is the first collaboration with a non-Nordic designer. Considering its visual and practical appeal, it hopefully won't be the last. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Clean Lines:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop furniture designs that prioritize clean lines for a minimalist aesthetic. - **Flatpack Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative flatpack furniture designs that prioritize ease of shipping and assembly. - **Collaborations with Non-nordic Designers:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Foster collaborations between furniture companies and non-Nordic designers to bring fresh perspectives and aesthetics to the industry. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate wire bases into traditional armchair designs to create visually appealing and lightweight furniture. - **Shipping and Logistics:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop efficient shipping and logistics solutions for flatpack furniture that minimize costs and maximize convenience. - **Design Collaboration:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Establish collaborations between furniture companies and designers from diverse backgrounds to create unique and marketable furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Traditional Vibrant Outdoor Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/net-lounge.md) - [Geometric Flatpacked Wooden Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sedia-tonda.md) - [Wavy Lounge Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wavy-lounge-chair.md) - [Ultra-Elegant Designer Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designer-outdoor-furniture.md) - [Posture-Maintaining Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/havana-lounge.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Wooden Framed Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paf-paf-chair.md) - [Rattan-Like Modern Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mua-lau.md) - [Leftover Textile Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sugar-lounge-chair.md)
