It was a custom commission by John S. Lynd, who is a close friend of Joseph Eichler. It is now home to a family that owns a large art collection. The renovation retains elements of the original design whilst also adapting to a more contemporary look. Carlson explains that “An ‘Eichler’ captures the word optimism in built form. These airy, light-filled, and human scale structures convey the promise of the post-World War ll era, as well as Joseph Eichler’s philosophy on domestic life, and the ability of modern design to enhance our quality of life.” Image Credit: Gustave Carlson Design ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 16% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Mid-century Modern Design:** The demand for mid-century modern design is rising and expanding beyond furniture to include architecture and home renovation. - **Sustainable Renovation:** Renovations with a sustainable approach are becoming more popular among homeowners and architects. - **Custom Renovation:** Homeowners are commissioning custom renovations to tailor their homes to their specific needs and preferences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can respond to the rising demand for mid-century modern design by incorporating it into their portfolio and offering renovation services. - **Architecture:** Architecture firms can integrate sustainable practices and principles of mid-century modern design into their renovation projects to attract eco-conscious and design-savvy clients. - **Construction:** Construction companies can offer custom renovation services and employ sustainable building practices to offer unique and eco-friendly home renovation options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mid-Century-Inspired Home Renos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wagoya-house.md) - [Reimagined Retro Californian Ranch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/destination-eichler.md) - [Mid-Century Holistic Home Restorations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cm-g1-house.md) - [Sculptural LA Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cm-g1.md) - [Stunning Mid-Century Coastal Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-theory.md) - [Balanced Renovated San-Fran Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/redwood-house.md) - [Mid-Century Renovated Canadian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/erica-colpitts.md) - [Mid-Century-Themed Vacation Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bohlin-cywinski-jackson.md) - [Mid-Century Californian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-schcketanz.md)
