# Paint-Splattered Seating The Gumball Armchair by Alberto Brogliato is Funky and Comfy By Meghan Young | Published 2014-01-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gumball-armchair References: [deconiche](http://www.deconiche.com/gumball-collection-plust-new-range-colours/) & [plust.it](http://www.plust.it/jsp/en/product/id_32_product_gumball-armchair.jsp) The Gumball Armchair is a [pebble-like seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunk-doughnut-chair) that would suit the home of 'The Flintstones' with ease. Of course, this is due in large part to the [new color range](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no-two-alike) that was introduced to spice up the original all-white Gumball Armchair design. Although it could be described as splattered with paint, the application and texture is much more organic-looking than that. Designed by Alberto Brogliato for Plust, the Gumball Armchair is produced in different materials including a rigid lacquered one and special soft resin. In addition to these new colorways, there is also a special edition version filled with thousands of [colored balls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/candy-modular-seating) that come through the translucent surface. It is also available in a two-seater model. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Pebble-like Seating:** Disruptive innovation opportunities could include exploring new materials and textures to create unique seating options. - **Organic-looking Design:** There is potential for disruptive innovation by incorporating natural and artistic elements into furniture design. - **Colorful and Playful Furniture:** Exploring the use of colors and playful design features can create disruptive innovation in the furniture industry. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore new materials, colors, and design elements to create unique and innovative furniture products. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate playful and artistic furniture pieces into their designs to create unique and visually appealing spaces. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can offer a range of colorful and creative furniture options to cater to the growing demand for unique and personalized home interiors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cozy Flower-Like Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beba-armchair.md) - [Pastel-Tonal Abstract Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowie.md) - [Radical Sculptural Art-Like Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palla.md) - [Childhood-Informed Dome Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-clodette-chair.md) - [Geometrically Chromatic Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archibald-armchair.md) - [Bubble-Inspired Bulbous Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool.md) - [Uniquely Structured Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yay-chair.md) - [Boldly Colorful Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popo-chair.md) - [Reimagined Colorful Chair Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stedelijk-chair.md)
