# Star Wars Instruments The Guitar2-D2 Looks Just Like the Famous Robot By Marina Rotharmel | Published 2012-07-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guitar2d2-instrument References: [geekologie](http://www.geekologie.com/2012/07/for-open-mic-on-mos-eisley-custom-built.php) & [digdug85.tumblr](http://digdug85.tumblr.com/post/8413133247/guitar2-d2-is-finally-complete-so-i-know-this) There are so many diverse fans of Star Wars, even those that love to rock out on the guitar, which is why Doug created the Guitar2-D2. This instrument was handcrafted to show his devotion to the films. The guitar looks exactly like the famous R2-D2 character from Star Wars. Custom built, the face of the guitar has all the same detailing as the [famous robot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-tamagotchi). Turn it over and you'll find the same. On Geekologie, Doug states,"I've avoided spreading this link around simply because it's mine and don't want to seem self-righteous. Then again, it's pretty f***ing awesome, and so am I." Maybe next time he'll come up with a C3PO-inspired saxaphone. One can only hope. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 55% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Customization](https://www.trendhunter.com/customization) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Customized Fan Instruments:** Creating customized instruments inspired by popular movies, such as the Guitar2-D2 based on the Star Wars character R2-D2, can tap into the fan market and provide unique musical experiences. - **Nostalgia-inspired Musical Gear:** Designing musical gear that mimics iconic characters from beloved movies like Star Wars, such as the Guitar2-D2, appeals to fans' sense of nostalgia and allows them to express their fandom through their instruments. - **Handcrafted Movie-themed Instruments:** Crafting handcrafted instruments that mirror famous characters from movies, like the Guitar2-D2 portraying R2-D2, presents a unique opportunity to merge craftsmanship with pop culture and attract collectors and enthusiasts. ### Where This Applies - **Musical Instruments:** The musical instruments industry can explore the creation of customized fan instruments, leveraging popular movie characters to attract dedicated fan bases and increase product demand. - **Entertainment Memorabilia:** The entertainment memorabilia industry can incorporate nostalgia-inspired musical gear, such as the Guitar2-D2, into their product offerings, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts looking for unique and iconic pieces. - **Handcrafted Art and Design:** The handcrafted art and design industry can seize the opportunity of creating movie-themed instruments like the Guitar2-D2, bringing together craftsmanship and popular culture to cater to a niche market of collectors and fans. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi-Branded Special-Edition Earbuds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audio-technica-r2-d2.md) - [Futuristic Abstract Musical Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zeta-electric-guitar.md) - [Electronic String Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harmoni.md) - [Real Life Cinematic Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/g1t4m1n1-droid.md) - [Galactic Robot-Inspired Puzzle Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-r2d2.md) - [Musician-Backed Electric Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fender-1.md) - [Celestial Smart Bamboo Guitars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/natasha-bamboo-smart-guitar.md) - [Recycled Guitar Prototypes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-guitar-1.md) - [Guitar-Shaped Cutting Scissors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nikken-cutlery.md)
