Guerrilla Grafters, an environmental activist group in San Francisco, United States, raises a good point when it comes to the public, [ornamental trees that line streets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stalk-treehugger) and neighborhoods. These once fruit-bearing trees can easily supply [free food for passersby](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exotic-fruit-basket) and residents. Instead, they were planted for a purely aesthetic purpose.

Guerrilla Grafters hopes to change this by integrating fruits into trees by grafting [fruit branches directly onto them](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orchard-drive-thru). In some states, however, this is an illegal act because the fallen fruit can end up being a health and safety hazard; they also attract insects and rodents. However, Guerrilla Grafters insists that with a proper program in place, this does not have to happen. Guerrilla Grafters Tara Hui and Booka Alon show the promise of their work.
