# Ascending Art Stations The Growth Table Encourages the Collective Creativity of All Ages By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-09-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growth-table References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/49904/) & [durfeeregn](http://www.durfeeregn.com/work/testing/) The creative process can be enhanced when people put their heads together. The Growth Table does an exceptional job of bringing artists of all shapes and sizes into the same imaginative environment as a whimsical piece of furniture with the space to accommodate six. Tim Durfee and Iris Anna Regn worked with the basic form of a drafting table, extrapolated upon its scale and turned it into an extended drawing desk. Following the slant of the sketching surface, the eccentric object becomes nearly four meters long, providing three broad tables and four [integrated benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair) down its length. The seats are built and slotted into the frame of the [caterpillar-like escritoire](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carpentopod). The short end welcomes young sketchers into a toddler-sized nook, the Growth Table emerges upwards and adults can fit comfortably at the high side. Each designer is provided with handy slots and holes for holding [pencil crayons, paints and more](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woset). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Collaborative Furniture:** Designing furniture that promotes communal creativity opportunities and enhances the collaborative process - **Multi-functional Workspaces:** Creating versatile furniture to enable flexible and practical workstations for all ages - **Inclusive Design:** Designing furniture that caters to everyone's needs and encourages participation from all ages ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** Exploring innovative furniture designs that promote collaboration, functionality, and inclusivity - **Education:** Developing educational furniture that fosters creative collaboration and inclusivity in learning environments - **Art:** Using innovative furniture to create unique artistic experiences and facilitate collaborative art projects ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Collaborative Meal-Making Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/12-person-table.md) - [Kid-Designed Sculptural Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galerie-philia.md) - [Development Childhood Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-and-chair-set.md) - [Industrial Shapeshifting Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jointable.md) - [Student-Created Elevated Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/workform.md) - [Sophisticated Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table.md) - [Interlocking Puzzle-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connect-table.md) - [Ultra-Colorful Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/never-stop-moving.md) - [Multifuntional Modular Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-table.md)
