# Expanding Garbage Can Growing Bin By Ayman | Published 2008-03-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growing-bin References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/index.php/2008/03/25/aint-big-enough/) Perfect for lazy people who do not like to [take out the trash](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trash-receptacles) often, designer **Young-min Heo** must have had me in mind with this **Growing Bin** design. The Growing Bin utilizes an adjustable set of concentric rings that can [expand vertically](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) to accomodate more and more trash. It's a good quick-fix for when you have visitors or a party and the trash keeps piling. Ofcourse the expansion won't go on forevere and eventually you run out of rings and must empty the trash, but it buys you some time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Vertical Waste Management:** Opportunity to innovate waste management systems by designing flexible and expandable trash bins to accommodate more waste without increasing physical space limitations. - **Intelligent Garbage Bins:** Opportunity to integrate AI and IoT technologies that can detect and indicate the level of trash in the container, making it easier to determine when a collection is due. - **Sustainable Waste Management:** Opportunity to design eco-friendly garbage cans that can break down and decompose the waste materials in an eco-friendly way. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Smart Home Industry:** Developing technologies that can integrate with the smart home infrastructure to remotely report and control the garbage bin's capacity and functions. - **Municipal Waste Management Industry:** Incorporating intelligent and sustainable solutions to keep up with increasing waste quantities and reduce landfill sites. - **Industrial and Commercial Waste Management:** Integrating innovative waste management solutions, such as vertical trash bins or automated trash compactors, to reduce environmental impact and optimize waste management processes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Utilitarian Trash Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carden-the-twin.md) - [Tipping Trash Can Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/niko-trash-bin.md) - [Versatile Egg-Shaped Waste Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextgen-waste-bin.md) - [Rodent-Preventative Trash Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/group-project.md) - [Modular Organization Garbage Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-garbage-bins.md) - [Modular Trash Organization Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sortmate-trash-cans.md) - [Renewable Circular Trash Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mill.md) - [Intuitive Countertop Composters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vego-kitchen-composter.md) - [Sustainably Constructed Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rubbish-bin.md)
