As the collection's name suggests, the accessories take inspiration from space, particularly mid-century [NASA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ridge-nasa-collection) control panels. The Ground Control accessory collection includes a [double USB charger](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-charger-from-counterpart), an electrical plug, a toggle switch, plus a dimmer knob, all of which boast bold brass finishes. Since the design of most outlets and switches are purely utilitarian, Juniper sought to reinvent them as functional objects that are also capable of being beautiful. As Juniper puts it: "he symmetrical, repetitive and tactile elements of the old NASA control panels is iconic and symbolizes a period of space exploration that influenced the dreams of a generation." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Retro-inspired Power Accessories:** The Ground Control collection by Juniper draws inspiration from mid-century NASA control panel designs, creating a trend of retro-inspired power accessories. - **Functional and Beautiful Design:** Juniper's Ground Control collection aims to reinvent power accessories by combining utilitarian functionality with beautiful aesthetics, highlighting a trend towards functional and visually appealing design. - **Space-themed Home Decor:** With its space-inspired design, the Ground Control collection taps into the trend of space-themed home decor, allowing consumers to incorporate a touch of nostalgia and futurism into their living spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Lighting Design:** The Ground Control collection presents opportunities for lighting design companies to create power accessories that not only serve their purpose but also add aesthetic value to lighting fixtures. - **Interior Design:** The trend of retro-inspired power accessories can be leveraged by interior design companies to enhance the overall aesthetic of spaces by incorporating unique and stylish power accessories into their designs. - **Home Decor Retail:** Space-themed power accessories like the Ground Control collection create disruptive innovation opportunities for home decor retailers, enabling them to offer unique and nostalgic products to consumers looking for distinctive decor elements. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contemporary Power Strip Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonbase-1.md) - [Aerospace-Inspired Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/novium-edge-and-shuttleport.md) - [Illuminated Charger Design Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/current-concept.md) - [Design-Conscious Power Bars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/power-strip-concept.md) - [Playful Industrial Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forming-function-nomad-collection.md) - [Spaceship-Inspired USB Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/docking-station-usb-hub.md) - [Design-Conscious Extension Cords](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/willow-power-supply.md) - [Natural Rock-Imitating Extension Cords](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/power-gem.md) - [Artfully Dynamic Power Strips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aunion.md)
