The video teaches foodies how to decorate these mini cakes to look just like the tree alien from the [sci-fi film](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/m3gan-20-inspired-menu). These cupcakes begin with recreating Groot from shortbread cookie dough. Koalipop recommends printing off a paper cut-out of Groot off of the Internet and then tracing the image onto the cookie dough using an x-acto knife. Then bake your favorite flavor of cupcakes and cover the tops with pipped green icing to replicate the look of grass. Stick the Groot sugar cookies into the cupcake and add a pair of black eyes and brown bark detailing using icing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 57% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Pop Culture-themed Food:** Opportunity for bakeries and food establishments to create unique and fun food creations that cater to fans of popular movies and TV shows. - **Character-inspired Desserts:** Opportunity for dessert shops and cafes to offer themed desserts that resemble iconic characters, attracting fans and enthusiasts. - **DIY Food Decorating Tutorials:** Opportunity for content creators and cooking influencers to create engaging tutorials that teach people how to decorate food to look like beloved characters or objects. ### Where This Applies - **Bakery:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for bakeries to develop and market pop culture-themed food items that appeal to a wide range of customers. - **Food and Beverage:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for food and beverage establishments to collaborate with entertainment franchises to create character-inspired desserts that attract and delight customers. - **Content Creation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for individuals or brands in the content creation industry to produce compelling DIY food decorating tutorials that can capture and engage a large and diverse audience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Space-Themed Desserts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacethemed-dessert.md) - [Superhero-Themed Nut Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/groot-gets-crackin-campaign.md) - [Intergalactic Snack Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/general-mills-guardians-of-the-galaxy.md) - [Superhero-Themed Snack Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hellofresh-guardians-snack-adventure-kit.md) - [Halloween-Inspired Cupcake Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/supernatural-kitchen.md) - [Color-Changing Cupcake Mixes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cupcake-kit.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Donut Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinkbox-doughnuts-star-wars-day.md) - [Spiced Beer-Infused Cupcakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beerinfused-cupcake.md) - [Ghost-Busting Green Cookies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghostbusters-frozen-empire-collection.md)
