Online Grocery Store Ocado is Testing 'CargoPods' for Delivery

Online British grocery store [Ocado](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ocado-600) is now experimenting with a [driverless grocery car](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ewagon) for the purposes of delivering goods in the city.

The self-driving 'CargoPod' is being tested in London, delivering groceries from warehouses straight to the homes of Ocado customers. The car is equipped with sensors, lasers and cameras and boasts a top speed of 25 mph, making it ideal for traveling short distances and carrying small loads. The CargoPod boasts eight individual compartments, which can be securely accessed by a customer. As part of its 10-day trial in London, the CargoPod treated existing Ocado customers to a free goodie pack, demonstrating the ease with which future grocery deliveries may be received with the [autonomous delivery truck](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doordash-and-waymo).

Ocado has noted that it plans to work with Oxbotica to perfect its delivery vehicle and potentially sell the technology to other retailers worldwide.
