# Vase-Clenching Coffee Tables Grip Satellite Table Combines a Planter and a Piece of Furniture By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-05-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-satellite-table References: [casasugar](http://www.casasugar.com/Stylish-Ways-Display-Houseplants-16448310?page=0,0,4#4) & [satyendra-pakhale](http://www.satyendra-pakhale.com/industrial/grip-satellite-table/#2) Sometimes the answer to reducing clutter in a home is to opt for a object like the Grip Satellite Table, which performs [two functions in one](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-home-object). The fetching piece of furniture was designed by Satyendra Pakhalé as an adaptation of a [simple living room side table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table), adapted to include a projecting hole for the [placement of a vase](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lotus-effect-vase) specially sculpted to fit with the set. The result is a small circular counter with minimal surface area removed to accommodate the flower pot. A bright and beautiful bouquet can be easily sunken into the piece, offsetting the stark whitewashed aesthetic with vibrantly colored blossoms. Giving an otherwise nearly plain object into a quirky asymmetrical stand, the Grip Satellite Table's defining floral feature would make it a focal point in any room. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Multifunctional Furniture:** Designing furniture that serves multiple purposes, such as combining a planter and a piece of furniture, can help reduce clutter and enhance the functionality of a space. - **Integration of Nature:** Incorporating elements of nature, like flower pots, into furniture designs can add a touch of beauty and bring nature indoors. - **Quirky Standalone Pieces:** Creating unique and eye-catching standalone pieces, like the Grip Satellite Table with its asymmetrical floral feature, can make a statement and become a focal point in any room. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can explore the concept of integrating multiple functions into their designs to offer practical and space-saving solutions for consumers. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can embrace the trend of incorporating natural elements like flower pots into various products, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of interior spaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate standout furniture pieces with quirky features like the Grip Satellite Table to create unique and visually pleasing spaces for their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Bookshelf-Incorporated Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/overlap-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Minimalist Book Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-coffee-table.md) - [Bent Multi-Functional Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-shell-table.md) - [Dual-Position Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-design-concept.md) - [Wall-Mounted Two-Legged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instable-side-table.md) - [Retro-Modern Ashtray Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/houseplant-side-table-ashtray.md) - [Japandi-Style Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloth-coffee-table.md)
