Making the transition from online chatting to offline meet-ups can put individuals in potentially unsafe situations, and to ensure the heightened safety of all its users, Grindr's UrSafe partnership is being expanded.
Currently, with a premium account, users have access to the UrSafe services, which offer a voice-activated security system that can alert friends and the police if a user is in danger, or in need of assistance. The app can share one's location with friends and family, and even dial 911 in case of an emergency.
The two services are now offering a free 14 day trial for all of Grindr's users, giving everyone temporary access to the premium feature, in the hopes of offering greater protection.
