# Storage-Attached Chair Designs The 'Grid Chair' from SUNRIU Design is Thoughtfully Constructed By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2023-08-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-chair References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2023/08/27/the-grid-chair-stores-your-books-and-prevents-your-coffee-from-accidentally-spilling-over/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-grid-chair-stores-your-books-and-prevents-your-coffee-from-accidentally-spilling-over) & [sunriu](https://sunriu.com/) Efficiency and aesthetics merge with the conceptual Grid Chair, which aims to strike a balance and provide a sitter with everything they need in their home. Designed by [SUNRIU Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tailor-armchair), the chair is characterized by its cubic construction that includes [plywood for the body](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mt-chair) and is accented by boxy cushions for the main seat and backrest sections. The chair features the seat support section extended out the sides, which function as built-in side tables for resting a coffee or book. The Grid Chair is imagined as a [multifunctional furniture piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) that would be right at home on its own or paired with additional units side-by-side in public spaces. This would enable the wing-like side table sections to combine for a larger amount of storage space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 17% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Efficiency-aesthetic Balancing:** The Grid Chair merges efficiency and aesthetics to create a balanced seating solution. - **Multifunctional Furniture:** The Grid Chair is designed as a multifunctional furniture piece, providing added versatility to any space. - **Integrated Storage Solutions:** The Grid Chair incorporates built-in side tables that function as storage space, optimizing organization in small areas. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The Grid Chair introduces a new approach to furniture design, offering opportunities for innovation in the manufacturing industry. - **Interior Design:** The Grid Chair's unique design opens doors for creative interior design possibilities and space optimization. - **Public Space Design:** The Grid Chair's potential for side-by-side pairing in public spaces creates opportunities for innovative seating arrangements and storage solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Antitheft Storage Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afford-chair.md) - [Storage-Equipped Restaurant Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rack-chair.md) - [Storage-Friendly Origami Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kerf.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Hollow Multipurpose Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tailor-armchair.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Posh Pet-Friendly Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-chair-design.md) - [Modular Storage-Equipped Pet Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-sofa.md)
