# Embarrassing Superhero Captures Grégoire Guillemin Shows a More Realistic Side to Idolized Su By Ariel Weber | Published 2013-01-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grgoire-guillemin References: [ufunk.net](http://www.ufunk.net/en/illustration/secret-life-of-heroes/) & [society6](http://society6.com/artist/Gregguillemin) Grégoire Guillemin, already known for his [superhero drawings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/super-heroes-vs-villains), adds a new touch to the way heroes are perceived by displaying them in a 'normal' light with the 'Secret Life of Hereos.' The colorful drawings portray closeups of some of the most [beloved characters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marvel-and-disney) doing very mundane and every day tasks. Most of us may brush our teeth on a daily basis, but it is very rare to see [Batman](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-x-air-up) doing the same thing. Nor is it ordinary to watch Spiderman pick a booger out of his nose or see his feet under a toilet stall. Yet, Grégoire Guillemin depicts these characters in a much unheroic fashion and shows a more humorous aspect to the usually svelt and masculinely depicted men. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Realistic Superhero Portrayal:** Opportunity to disrupt the superhero genre by presenting a more relatable and humorous side to iconic characters. - **Everyday Mundane Depictions:** Opportunity to disrupt traditional art by showcasing the beauty and humor in ordinary tasks and activities. - **Subverting Masculine Stereotypes:** Opportunity to challenge the conventional image of masculinity by portraying male superheroes in unheroic and comical situations. ### Where This Applies - **Comic Books and Graphic Novels:** Opportunity to redefine the superhero genre and attract a wider audience by presenting realistic and relatable characters. - **Visual Art and Illustration:** Opportunity to disrupt traditional art forms by creating provocative and humorous depictions of everyday life. - **Gender Representation and Equality:** Opportunity to challenge societal norms and promote gender equality by subverting traditional masculine stereotypes in popular media. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Superhero-Themed Clogs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiderman-x-crocs.md) - [3D Superhero Block-Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazing-spiderman-set.md) - [Superhero-Themed DIY Art Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jim-lee-batman.md) - [Comic-Inspired Soda Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-heroes.md) - [Comic Book Hero Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comic-book-heros.md) - [Batman-Themed Kitchen Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-small-kitchen-appliance-design.md) - [Dark Superhero Water Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/batman-x-air-up.md) - [Superhero-Themed Headphone Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3dprinted-headphone-stands.md) - [Villain-Themed Shoe Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kith-for-asics.md)
