# Explosive Coffee Cups The Grenade Mug is for Big Shots With No Patience for Complaints By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-06-13 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grenade-mug References: [neatorama](http://www.neatorama.com/2011/06/12/grenade-mug/) & [neatoshop](http://www.neatoshop.com/product/Grenade-Mug-Take-a-Number) Perhaps you've found yourself in a high or even low profile job in which you're constantly being bothered with people's petty issues. Place a Grenade Mug on the edge of your desk, and I wonder if you won't get a little more peace and quiet, or at least a few laughs. This army-esque [teacup](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cuptone-teacup) is shaped like a hand grenade, complete with a striker lever as a handle and a fake pin. The bomb drinking vessel reads "Complaint Department: Please Take a Number," essentially inviting the unsatisfied to pull the pin, detonate the device and blow himself up. Of course, the Grenade Mug is simply a 12-ounce [ceramic coffee cup](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/temperature-control-smart-mug) with attitude, and not an actual weapon. Whether it's interpreted as humor or anger, it depends on the nature of the man who drinks from it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Drinking](https://www.trendhunter.com/drinking) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Novelty Mugs:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating unique and humorous mugs for different industries and professions. - **Humor in the Workplace:** Opportunity to explore how humor can be incorporated into office culture and employee engagement. - **Personalized Office Supplies:** Opportunity to create customized office supplies that reflect individual personalities and preferences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Novelty Gift:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in creating novelty gifts that appeal to a wide range of consumers. - **Office Supplies:** Opportunity to revolutionize the office supplies industry by introducing unique and personalized products. - **Corporate Culture:** Opportunity to explore innovative ways to foster a positive and humorous corporate culture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Grenade-Inspired Table Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lepe-1839.md) - [Ultra-Heavy Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oceanus-brass-tankard.md) - [Opulent Armory Clock Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lepe-1839-grenade-clock.md) - [Handle-Free Coffee Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinch-hold.md) - [Utensil Holding Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1handmug.md) - [Bell-Shaped Coffee Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-mug.md) - [Heated Espresso-Sized Coffee Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heated-espresso-cup.md) - [Landmark-Inspired Glass Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starbucks-mount-fuji-glass-mug.md) - [Temperature-Regulating Coffee Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cauldryn-coffee-pro.md)
