In addition to being a pleasure to the eye, the home uses green plants, sun light and ecological materials. "Water consumption is minimized through collecting rainwater and re-using grey water in the garden," Zen Architects explain. "The gardens are watered by automated subsurface irrigation systems to minimize water lost through evaporation. Passive heating is provided by a two storey north facing void that allows sun to penetrate deep into the house heating thermal mass of exposed concrete floor and ceiling. Passive cooling is provided by windows located to catch breezes cooled by the courtyard plants and pond while a two storey void facilitates natural heat removal through stack effect." The [living green plants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-house-1) are used in different areas of the house and they create the perfect setting to create great mood and environment for such a sunny and incredible house. And if you check through the pictures, you may find that this is not a big house but a house that uses each corner in an efficient and warm way. This is the kind of house I wanna live in! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Eco-friendly Architecture:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create sustainable and environmentally friendly buildings. - **Passive Heating and Cooling:** Opportunity to develop innovative designs that utilize natural elements like sunlight and breezes to regulate temperature. - **Water Conservation Systems:** Opportunity to implement advanced technology for rainwater collection and greywater reuse in residential and commercial buildings. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can explore and implement eco-friendly techniques and designs in their projects. - **Construction:** The construction industry can adopt sustainable materials and methods to support the development of eco-friendly buildings. - **Home and Garden:** The home and garden industry can offer innovative products and solutions for water conservation and sustainable living. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tranquil Elevated Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-house.md) - [Planted Balcony Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-greens.md) - [Contemporary Weatherized Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acute-house.md) - [Plant-Filled Latticed Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touching-eden-house.md) - [Nature-Inspired Minimal Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-house-1.md) - [Sustainable Country Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/three-oaks-farm.md) - [Garden-Connected Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-waverley-house.md) - [Lush Garden-Focused Melbourne Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gardeners-house-1.md) - [Anticipatory Architectural Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vulcan-house.md)
