# Deceivingly Suspended Furniture Simone Savini's Gravity Table Looks like a Magic Trick By Meghan Young | Published 2011-05-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gravity-table References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/05/20/gravity-defying-table/) & [simonesavini](http://simonesavini.com/) Astound visitors by seating them at the Gravity Table. Although this piece of furniture isn't actually defying gravity at all, for a moment or two you will probably notice your guests looking around, under and above it in awe -- until they see that the bottom of the legs are made out of a [transparent, plastic material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-collection). Designed by Simone Savini, the Gravity Table is an overall [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table) that has a rather ghostly appearance. This is due not only to its eerily [suspended illusion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siembra-capsule), but also to its simple, curvy aesthetic. Creatively clever, the beautiful thing about the Gravity Table is that it would fit into almost any living space and its existing decor. I love how the chairs paired with it pop with color. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Suspended Furniture:** Opportunity for creating furniture designs that create the illusion of defying gravity by using transparent materials. - **Minimalist Design:** Chances to explore minimalist design aesthetics and create furniture pieces with a simple, curvy appearance. - **Versatile Living Space:** Opportunity to design furniture that can seamlessly fit into any living space and complement various styles of decor. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation possibilities in creating visually stunning furniture designs that challenge traditional expectations. - **Interior Design:** Chances to incorporate illusionary furniture pieces into interior design concepts, adding a touch of captivating mystery. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for retailers to offer unique and versatile furniture options that can enhance various decor styles. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md) - [Floating Component Dining Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-top-chair.md) - [Gravity-Defying Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-isolounge-chair.md) - [Sculptural Gravity Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench.md) - [Terrazzo Side Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-side-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Juxtaposing Material Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compression-dining-table.md)
