The award-winning design, which they call Billy’s Brother, for some unexplained reason, is a fascinating optical creation. The unit actually serves to [hold the books or magazines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand), more securely than a standard formed unit would. The [displaced shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pli-steel-wall-shelf) create a wave motion, which in turn creates a “playful meeting” between the wall and the floor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.4/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Gravity-defying Designs:** Designers are exploring ways to defy gravity in their creations, opening up new possibilities for innovative and visually stunning products. - **Optical Illusion Furniture:** Furniture that creates fascinating optical illusions is gaining popularity, providing a unique and eye-catching element to interior design. - **Wave Motion Furniture:** Furniture designs that incorporate wave motion are emerging, creating a playful and dynamic interaction between the furniture and its surroundings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can leverage gravity-defying designs to offer customers unique and visually striking furniture options. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore the production of optical illusion furniture to meet the growing demand for visually stunning and conversation-starting pieces. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can tap into the trend of wave motion furniture to provide customers with furniture that adds a sense of movement and playfulness to their living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md)
