The Grass Cave House by Makiko Tsukada Architects embraces [minimalist design ideals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-house-1). Inspired by a literal cave or grotto, the structure appears hidden between two residential homes.

The Japanese residential structure is located on a narrow plot of land in the [hillside area of Yokohama](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-house-1). Its heavy and linear facade is supported by a series of slim steel columns that shade its interior from sunlight. This cave-like entryway also allows the home's inhabitants to park their car underneath its canopy.

The interior of Makiko Tsukada Architects's latest creation, The Grass Cave House features a range of frosted glass elements that let in natural light while maintaining a sense of privacy for the home's inhabitants. Adding to its cantilevered structural frame, dark-stained plywood "ensures a calm and [cave-like atmosphere](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nakano-house)" inside the home.
