Directed by Gevorg Karensky, the high velocity short mimics the movements, camera angles and game play of Grand Theft Auto. For those unfamiliar, Grand Theft Auto is a [first-person adventure game](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindseye-game) in which players are given tasks and missions to complete. As they prowl the city, they perform car-jackings, murders and other crimes in order to complete the mission. In this short film, the main character is told to retrieve a cell phone from a party bus. Once he arrives, another person steals the cell phone from his target before he can. Naturally, a [high speed chase](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/escape-road) ensues. GTA V for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 should arrive by 2013's first quarter. **Implications** - director Gevorg Karensky ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Live Action Film Adaptations of Video Games:** There is a growing trend of creating live action films based on popular video game franchises like Grand Theft Auto, presenting opportunities for cross-media storytelling and engaging with a wider audience. - **Virtual Reality Gaming Experiences:** The success of video game adaptations like Grand Theft Auto: RISE showcases the potential for immersive virtual reality experiences, opening doors for innovative storytelling and interactive gameplay. - **Simulated Crime and Action Gameplay:** The popularity of games like Grand Theft Auto highlights the demand for simulated crime and action gameplay, indicating opportunities to develop and market similar game experiences that cater to this audience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Film Industry:** The film industry can capitalize on the trend of creating live action adaptations of popular video games, by acquiring the rights to popular franchises and translating them into visually stunning cinematic experiences. - **Gaming Industry:** The success of Grand Theft Auto: RISE demonstrates the potential for virtual reality gaming experiences, prompting the gaming industry to explore innovative ways to integrate VR technology into their games. - **Entertainment Industry:** The popularity of games like Grand Theft Auto indicates the demand for simulated crime and action gameplay, presenting an opportunity for the entertainment industry to create new forms of interactive entertainment that cater to this audience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Futuristic Taxi Drifting Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taxi-chaos-2.md) - [Cinematic Video Game Spots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/droga5s-wake-up.md) - [Classic Action-Inspired Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bomb-rush-cyberpunk.md) - [Game-Inspired Electric Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inception-ev.md) - [Video Game-Inspired Vehicle Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mg-maze.md) - [Lifelike FPS Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unrecord.md) - [Indie Game-Adapted Movies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-paso-elsewhere.md) - [Auto-Centric Short Films](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/relax-we-care.md) - [Video Game-Like Sports Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milano-vision-gt.md)
