# Vintage Puppet Illustrations The Muppet Origins by Graham Annable Goes Back in Time By Ana Lopez | Published 2011-12-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graham-annable References: [blog.thaeger](http://blog.thaeger.com/2011/12/04/muppets-origins/) & [grickle](http://grickle.com/) With the release of the movie The Muppets, this is the year of the puppets, which is why the Canadian cartoonist Graham Annable created the series called Muppet Origins. These illustrations are adorable and simple; they comically honored the beginnings of the funny characters originally created by Jim Henson. Based in Oregon, Annable drew three beautiful watercolor illustrations. There is Miss Piggy in a rose color, Kermit the Frog in green and Gonzo the Great in purple, all coming to the realization for where they come from. These pieces are adorable, especially seeing the glamorous Miss Piggy sadly staring down a couple of filthy pigs. The Muppet Origins by Graham Annable is exhibited at the Jim Henson Tribute Exhibition at Gallery Nucleus. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Puppet-inspired Art:** Opportunity to create new art forms or modernize existing art forms with the inspiration of puppets and puppetry. - **Vintage-inspired Illustrations:** Opportunity to create illustrations that harken back to a whimsical, simpler time and evoke feelings of nostalgia. - **Tribute Exhibitions:** Opportunity to create exhibitions that pay homage to iconic characters in pop culture and entertainment, like Jim Henson's Muppets. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fine Art:** Opportunity to incorporate puppetry into fine art mediums and appeal to collectors seeking unique and whimsical pieces. - **Entertainment:** Opportunity to bring vintage-style characters into modern-day entertainment mediums, such as digital shows or streaming services. - **Museum and Galleries:** Opportunity for museums and galleries to showcase exhibitions that honor iconic characters and storytellers by engaging audiences through art forms that are accessible and relatable. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Puppet-Inspired Premium Wristwatches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/propilot.md) - [Vibrantly Comedic Travel Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookingyeah-campaign.md) - [Collectible Character Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arr-x-kaws-sesame-street.md) - [Hand-Knit Finger Puppets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/finger-puppet-mushrooms.md) - [Hand-Drawn Animation Shorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-grogu-and-dust-bunnies.md) - [Designer Toy Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monsters-by-monsters-now-and-then.md) - [Fuzzy Cereal Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/general-mills-x-jim-henson-company.md) - [Nostalgic Show-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pingu-set.md) - [Playful Cat Illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/open-meow.md)
