[Google's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grow-with-google) Project Loon is an initiative that intends to provide Internet access to everyone across the globe.

There is a remote city in Brazil called Campo Maior. The majority of Campo Maior is left without cell or Internet service, save for a few spots around the city that are able to occasionally grasp and hold a weak signal (and it might require some tree-climbing to get there). A school in Campo Maior was the first stop in Google's Project Loon, connecting to the Internet for the first time.

The Internet was "beamed" from the relay of a [high-elevation Wi-Fi balloon](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tmobile-tsatellite), requiring no cables or optic fibers to function. The location had the project overcoming several challenges: "Launching near the equator taught us to overcome more dramatic temperature profiles, dripping humidity and scorpions."
