# Corporate Hammock Hangouts Google Pittsburgh Office Provides Workers with a Net-Like Resting Area By Jason Soy | Published 2012-01-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/google-pittsburgh-office References: [designcollector.net](http://designcollector.net/google-pittsburgh/) & [stradallc](http://www.stradallc.com/) When designing an ideal workspace, the notion of including a hammock probably ranks high as a desired feature, and that’s exactly what [Strada](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strada-vecchia) has provided for the [Google](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mountain-view) Pittsburgh office. But Strada wasn’t satisfied with giving the search engine mega company any run-of-the-mill hammock, theirs hangs from the second floor and is large enough to hold entire departments. Those worried about the hammock breaking will be happy to know there’s a net underneath to protect workers from falling. Not a shabby place to do all of your computer programming for the day. Aside from the [giant hammock](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anymaka-hammock-tent), the Google Pittsburgh office also features steampunk and antique-looking aesthetics to preserve the history of the building the workspace is located in. Primary-colored furnishings, a mainstay of Google offices, are also to be expected. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Hammock Office Spaces:** Opportunity for businesses to create unique and relaxing work environments by incorporating hammocks into their office design. - **Steampunk Aesthetics:** Chance for companies to embrace the vintage and industrial look of steampunk in their office design for a unique and visually appealing workspace. - **Historic Workspace Preservation:** Opportunity for businesses to repurpose old buildings and preserve their history by incorporating original features into their office design. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Tech Companies:** Tech companies can incorporate hammocks and steampunk aesthetics into their office design to create a unique and inspiring workspace for their employees. - **Hospitality Industry:** Hotels and resorts can create a luxurious and relaxing atmosphere by incorporating hammocks and steampunk aesthetics into their common areas and guest rooms. - **Co-working Spaces:** Co-working spaces can differentiate themselves from traditional offices by incorporating hammocks and steampunk aesthetics, providing a unique and creative environment for entrepreneurs and freelancers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Open-Air Summer Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipz-on-summer-chair.md) - [Mobile Outdoor Workspace Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freelance-workspace.md) - [Kaleidoscope Vibrant Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mountain-view.md) - [Peaceful Geometric Hanging Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iko-hanging-chair.md) - [Sports-Themed Indoor Hammocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kona-gameday-hammock.md) - [Future-Facing Tech Brand Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seed-chair.md) - [Featherlight Hammock Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-hammock.md) - [Work-from-Anywhere Inflatable Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-from-anywairs.md) - [Outdoor Lounging Rocking Hammocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panama-banana.md)
