The Google Maps application would previously allow users to choose different route preferences, such as the quickest path, the path with the least traffic, or a path that avoids motorways. Additionally, the company previously released the ability for users to plan a fuel-efficient path based on gasoline-powered vehicles. With the new update, drivers can now plan an eco-conscious path around their specific type of transportation. This includes gasoline, diesel, electric, and hybrid power cars, as well as [electric bikes and scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-electric-bike). The map will also inform the driver of how much fuel is expected to be saved on that route vs an alternative, stating information such as "Save 26% petrol by driving 9 more minutes." The [eco-friendly Google Maps feature](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/google-maps-tips) will now be available in several countries across Europe, whereas it initially rolled out earlier this year in North America.
