April Fools' Day is right around the corner, which explains the reveal of the Google Gnome. The device is essentially an outdoor version of [Google Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecobee-google-home). It's able to tell you in which direction and how fast the wind is blowing, turn on/off the hose and even let's you know which plants you can eat. Google released a short video for the Gnome which is surprisingly funny and just a bit dark in one part.

There's a decent chance some people will take the Google Gnome at face value. Tech has infiltrated every other aspect of our lives after all. Is a garden gnome with Wi-Fi really all that unbelievable? In today's day and age, no. For this year at least the Google Gnome is a joke, but who knows what 2018 and beyond will hold.
