This Google camera was made to preserve works of art. Made by the [Google Cultural Institute](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-selfie-2), the extremely high resolution camera is being used to scan and archive art from around the world to ensure that it is never lost.

The camera has currently been used to scan approximately 1,200 works of art. The 'Art Camera' has evolved over the years to make scanning faster and easier for museums and therefore aids in supplying more digitized versions of the art for its archives. With high resolution "gigapixel images," the Art Camera can capture every brush stroke made by artists like Van Gogh. With this, the Google camera can better preserve the memory of the artist and the intricate techniques they used.
