# Cute Illuminating Bookends The Good Night and Good Luck Table Lamp Enligthens Avid Readers By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/good-night-and-good-luck-table-lamp References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Good-Night-and-Good-Luck/2085680) The Good Night and Good Luck table lamp takes the appearance of a [bookend](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-bookend) -- because it is one. However, its form is a bit of an illusion, with a pale rectangular box that mimics the look of a heavy hardcover volume. This element is actually a closed translucent case that houses LED lights, allowing the piece to operate as an effective means of illumination on a desk, a shelf or on a bedside table. The L-shaped object becomes a lovely little nook for storing novels and more, with a base incorporated to support them. The flat extended bottom of the blue, black or white acrylic fixtures has a [touch sensor integrated](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tap-tap-table-lamp). When items are placed upon Tetsuo Takahashi's Good Night and Good Luck table lamp, the light switches on. It remains off when the panel is clear. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Illuminating Bookends:** The trend of bookends that double as lamps creates opportunities for innovative lighting solutions in home decor. - **Translucent LED Cases:** The trend of using translucent cases with LED lights presents opportunities for creative and functional lighting designs in various products. - **Touchable Sensors:** The trend of incorporating touch sensors into everyday objects offers opportunities to enhance user experience and convenience. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Innovative bookends that function as lamps can disrupt the home decor industry by combining functionality and aesthetics. - **Lighting Design:** The use of translucent cases with LED lights opens up disruptive innovation opportunities in the lighting design industry. - **Product Design:** The inclusion of touch sensors in objects like bookends provides opportunities for innovative product designs focused on user interaction. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cabin-Shaped Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boof-reading-light.md) - [Convenient Book Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/android-book-light.md) - [Pop-Up Reading Light Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-task-lamp.md) - [Light-Equipped Reading Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dasung.md) - [Novel-Inspired Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-prince-night-lamp.md) - [Sleek Smart Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindduo-2.md) - [Elegant Compact Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-table-light.md) - [Sophisticated Productivity Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/benq-mindduo-2-table-lamp.md) - [Hanging Lantern-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woodo-table-lamp.md)
