# Surreal Imagination Illustrations The Goni Montes Dream Series Portrays the Wandering of the Mind By Gil Cohen | Published 2012-12-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goni-montes-dream References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Dream/6229589) & [goniart](http://www.goniart.com/portfolio/the-storm-line/) To create a [realistic dream scenario](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-recorder), as depicted in the Goni Montes Dream illustration series, you have to disregard reality altogether. Shapes, colors, space, physics -- all of these elements morph and change when you let your mind wander into the haze of dreaming. Goni Montes portrays people's imaginings, some deeply immersed in an [alternate universe](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery), while others are merely dozing off in a daydream as they sit on the subway. One image shows a man envisioning the source of ultimate power in his hands with his third eye wide open, while another depicts a woman performing a balancing act on a tightrope, riding a unicycle and trying to juggle lit torches. The Goni Montes Dream series shows the wanderings of our imaginations. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 74% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Realistic Dream Scenarios:** Opportunity for immersive experiences that blur the lines between reality and imagination. - **Mind-wandering Art:** Emerging trend of capturing the abstract and surreal nature of the human imagination. - **Alternate Universe Immersions:** Disruptive innovation potential in creating virtual worlds for users to explore their wildest imaginings. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Illustration:** Opportunity to push the boundaries of visual storytelling and evoke powerful emotional responses. - **Virtual Reality:** Growing industry that can provide immersive experiences, allowing users to enter and interact with surreal dreamscapes. - **Entertainment and Media:** Potential to captivate audiences with mind-bending narratives that transport them into fantastical realms. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Abstract Fantasy Home Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abstract-fantasy-home.md) - [Material-Accented Dreamscape Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamscape-exhibit.md) - [Artsy Surrealist Tableware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gohar-world.md) - [Imaginative Cocktail Menus](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/world-of-dreams-cocktail-menu.md) - [AI-Generated Retrofuturistic Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturistic-objects.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Alternate Reality-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lana-series.md)
