The stunningly delicate black box contains a necklace reiteration of a golden snitch, a key element in the book's fictional sport Quidditch that allows players to win the match. The necklace can be worn by Harry Potter fanatics as is, but also acts as a vessel, concealing an [engagement ring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nontraditional-engagement-ring). The ring is only revealed when the circular golden trinket pops open. The piece was designed using 3D printers and is engraved with the phrase "I Open at the Close," a quote which can be customized to say whatever the future fiancee desires. The book's popularity has a cult-like following and subsequent sub-cultures which formed after its publication allowing for Harry Potter-inspired products like the Golden Snitch engagement box to have a valuable place in this niche market. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Jewelry](https://www.trendhunter.com/jewelry) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Fantasy-themed Engagement Boxes:** The rise of fantasy-themed engagement boxes presents an opportunity for jewelry designers to tap into niche markets and offer unique, personalized pieces. - **Customizable 3d-printed Jewelry:** The use of 3D printing technology in jewelry design allows for the creation of intricate, customizable pieces like the Golden Snitch engagement box, offering a new avenue for engagement ring concealment. - **Niche Market Fan Merchandise:** Cult-like fandoms such as Harry Potter enthusiasts provide a valuable niche market for merchandise like the Golden Snitch engagement box, offering a chance for businesses to cater to passionate fan bases. ### Where This Applies - **Jewelry Design:** Jewelry designers can capitalize on the demand for fantasy-themed engagement boxes by creating unique and personalized pieces that appeal to niche markets. - **3D Printing:** The utilization of 3D printing technology in the jewelry industry allows for the creation of intricate, customizable pieces, providing opportunities for innovative designs of engagement boxes. - **Fan Merchandise:** The niche market of fan merchandise, particularly focused on cult-like fandoms like Harry Potter, offers a space for businesses to create unique and themed products, such as the Golden Snitch engagement box, catering to passionate fan bases. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Proposal Ring Box Puzzles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ring-box-set.md) - [Fantasy Film-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quidditch-trunk.md) - [Quirky Trinket Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mystic-box.md) - [Wizard-Themed Chocolate Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kinder-joy-funko-harry-potter.md) - [Mini Fantasy Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miniverse-make-it-mini-potions.md) - [Fantasy Keycap Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hogwarts-house-keycaps.md) - [Coffin-Shaped Engagement Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coffin-shaped-engagement-rings.md) - [Portable Compact Fantastical Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polly-pocket-harry-potter.md) - [Carrot-Shaped Engagement Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carrot-gold-engagement-ring.md)
