# Inverted Pyramid Architecture The Phenomenal GMP Architects Design for the Hanoi Museum By Matt Ho | Published 2011-03-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gmp-architects References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/2011/03/15/inverted-pyramid-museum/) & [gmp-architekten.de](http://www.gmp-architekten.de/) How awesome would it be if pyramids were inverted? GMP Architects was probably asking themselves the same thing when designing the Hanoi Museum in Vietnam. GMP Architects has designed a [unique museum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-of-modern-art) in the form of an [inverted pyramid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof). This building is composed of several floors layed out with a mesh-like exterior. What I love is that the museum is right in front of a [large fountain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hangzhou-empathy-museum) so when you look at it, the reflection reveals a right-side up pyramid which should be entertaining and trippy to some. The interior itself is just as amazing with a large open space and wide winding ramps for people to get from one floor to the next. GMP Architects also uses a white color scheme that shows off the illusion of natural lighting in the building when during night time. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Inverted Pyramid Architecture:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Exploring unconventional architectural designs that challenge traditional concepts and create unique visual experiences. - **Mesh-like Exterior:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Utilizing innovative materials and techniques to create visually striking and structurally sound building facades. - **Illusion of Natural Lighting:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Developing sustainable lighting solutions that mimic natural light and reduce energy consumption in indoor spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Embracing unconventional designs and pushing boundaries to redefine architectural norms and create unique structures. - **Construction:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Implementing advanced construction techniques and materials to realize complex and unconventional architectural designs. - **Lighting:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Advancing lighting technologies to replicate natural lighting effects indoors, improving user experience and energy efficiency. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Architectural Pottery Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bat-trang.md) - [Garden-Topped Sunken Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cmp-inspiration.md) - [Pyramidal Concrete Japanese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pyramid-hut.md) - [Dynamic Installation Science Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hainan-science-museum.md) - [Infinity Loop-Shaped Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yohoo-museum.md) - [Paper-Inspired Artful Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-for-papirkunst.md) - [Swept Roof Underground Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deep-time-palace.md) - [Multicultural Bright Historic Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fenix-museum-of-migration.md) - [White Concrete Boxy Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-of-modern-art.md)
