# Chic Glow-in-the-Dark Lighting The Loena Lamp by Ontwerpduo is Inspired by Childhood Bedroom Decor By Meghan Young | Published 2015-01-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowinthedark-light References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/3040892/a-designer-lamp-that-glows-in-the-dark) & [ontwerpduo.nl](http://www.ontwerpduo.nl/en/) Leona is a glow-in-the-dark light fixture that happens to be inspired by starry bedroom decor that would provide comfort for sleeping children. A more sophisticated take on the childhood staple, it exists in three states: unlit, lit and glowing. What makes the glow-in-the-dark light even more special is the fact that when it does glow, it features a [gorgeous grid pattern](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-drape-light) that separates it even further from its other two minimalist states. The glow-in-the-dark light fixture was created by Dutch design team Ontwerpduo. It introduces a unique experience in the home that is doubly purposeful. Not only does it shed a traditional illumination in the home, it also cleverly acts as a [night light for adults](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-lamp). The design is chic as well, which more mature individuals will appreciate. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 54% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Glow-in-the-dark Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating innovative lighting solutions that combine traditional illumination with a unique glow-in-the-dark feature. - **Childhood-inspired Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing stylish home decor products that evoke nostalgia and comfort, targeting both children and adults. - **Dual-purpose Night Lights:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing multifunctional night lights that serve as both a traditional light source and a comforting night light for adults. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Rethinking traditional lighting solutions by incorporating unique features such as glow-in-the-dark technology. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating innovative decor products that blend childhood nostalgia with modern, chic aesthetics. - **Night Light Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing advanced night lights that cater to the needs of both children and adults, offering dual functionality and stylish design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Astronaut Night Light Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors.md) - [Nature-Inspired Living Space Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonlight-floor-lamp.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Spaced-Themed LED Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-room.md) - [Calming Orb Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp1.md) - [Structural Two-Part Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luno-lamp.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Astro-Inspired Sculptural Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elara-suspension.md)
