# Expression-Changing Night Lights This Glowing Night Light Offers a Comforting Smile in the Dark By Nicole Ballantyne-Choo | Published 2013-08-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowing-night-light References: [fancy](http://fancy.com/things/291006806690372671/Glo-Boy-Solar-Nightlight) While night lights can be extremely bright and interrupt sleep, this [glowing night light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-lamp) creates a calm and subtle ambiance to help your child rest easy. This cute lamp is known as a GloBoy, and has facial expressions that change between day and night. During the day when kids are at school, the friendly face’s eyes are shut and the mouth is open in a yawn. GloBoy needs to be placed by a window because his [battery is solar charged](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iggy-lamp). Once nightfall hits, the light is charged to last six hours; he switches on with open eyes and a comforting smile. The lamp weighs less than a pound, so your kid can move GloBoy closer to him if he needs extra light and comfort. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Expression-changing Night Lights:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing night lights with customizable expressions to cater to different moods and preferences. - **Calm and Subtle Ambiance:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating lighting products that promote relaxation and improve sleep quality without disrupting the sleep cycle. - **Solar-powered Night Lights:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing night lights that utilize solar power for eco-friendly and efficient energy consumption. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Revolutionizing the lighting industry by introducing smart and interactive night light solutions. - **Children's Products:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Enhancing children's products by incorporating innovative night light designs that provide comfort and promote healthy sleep habits. - **Renewable Energy:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrating renewable energy technologies, such as solar power, into everyday products like night lights. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Color-Matching Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/angelcare-magical-dreams-lumicolor-bear.md) - [Rechargeable Multicolored Dinosaur Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/globe-electric.md) - [Astronaut Night Light Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors.md) - [Soothing Auditory Infant Nightlights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vava-peepalight.md) - [Sleep-Aiding Tranquil Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-player.md) - [Sleep-Enhancing Bedtime Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loftie-lamp.md) - [Dimmable Dog Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grejsimojs.md) - [Melody Playing Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-sleepy-sheep-sleep-bear.md) - [Minimal Wake-Aware Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-sleep-light.md)
