The photos were taken in an underground cave in New Zealand called the Ruakuri Cave. Contrary to what our eyes may tell us, the [beautiful blue lights and illuminations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible) that can be seen in this photography series are not electronic but are actually being emitted from glow worms. The photos certainly put an end to the common belief that all insects are off-putting. The photography manages to capture the scene perfectly and gives the viewer the same otherworldly experience that visitors of this cave likely experience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Glow Worm Tourism:** The beauty of glow worm photography has the potential to drive tourism to underground caves and other natural wonders where glow worms can be found. - **Nature Photography:** The artistry of Shaun Jeffers's glow worm photography showcases the potential for nature photography to tell unique and striking visual stories. - **Bioluminescence in Art:** Shaun Jeffers's glow worm photography may inspire artists to explore the use of bioluminescence as a medium in visual art. ### Who This Affects Most - **Tourism:** Tourism operators could offer glow worm cave tours as a way to showcase the natural beauty and unique features of underground caves. - **Photography:** Professional photographers could explore opportunities to capture unique natural phenomena like bioluminescence in their work. - **Art:** Artists could explore the use of bioluminescence in their work as a way to add a unique visual element to their pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glow-in-the-Dark Sushi Bars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glow-in-the-dark-sushi-bar.md) - [Glowing Water Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowyld-collection.md) - [Indoor Gardening Glowing Petunias](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-petunia.md) - [Wool Translucent Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Translucent Bulbous Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light.md) - [Silkworm-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting.md) - [Ethereal Space-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wormhole-table-lamp.md)
