# Dangling Orb Lamps The Globe Lights by Studio Vit Reflect on the Way Objects Interact with Light By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-05-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/globe-lights References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2013/05/28/globe-ceramic-lights-by-studio-vit) & [studiovit.se](http://studiovit.se/) Two separate, yet intimately involved components make up the Globe Lights series that was recently created by London designers Helena and Veronica from [Studio Vit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloom-wall-light). A [dangling orb mounted from the ceiling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-light) casts a small and concentrated ray of light out of its side while a large ceramic dish can be tilted to perfectly reflect and bounce that light into the rest of the room. The way these two objects interact is up to you as the disc can be mounted on a wall, angled in a corner or laid flat on the ground while the dangling spheres can be clustered at different lengths or left to hang individually. The designers explain that the Globe Lights collection "explores how geometric volumes relate to each other." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 22% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Geometric Lighting:** Designing lights that explore geometric volumes and their relationship with each other provides disruptive innovation opportunities for interior lighting design. - **Modular Lighting Systems:** Developing modular lighting systems that allow for customization and personalized lighting options provides disruptive innovation opportunities for home and commercial lighting designers. - **Reflective Light Fixtures:** Creating reflective fixtures that can bounce light throughout the room in innovative ways provides disruptive innovation opportunities for interior lighting designers and manufacturers. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Lighting Design:** The geometric lighting trend offers interior lighting designers a unique opportunity to create innovative fixtures that explore the relationship between volumes and light. - **Home Lighting:** Designing and selling modular lighting systems that allow for customization provides disruptive innovation opportunities for home lighting manufacturers and retailers. - **Commercial Lighting Design:** Developing reflective light fixtures that offer customizable lighting solutions offers disruptive innovation opportunities for commercial lighting designers and manufacturers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md) - [Horizontal Glass Sphere Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comet-pendant.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Magnetic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbe.md) - [Suspended Mirrored Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mirror-collection-1.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Mouth-Blown Glass Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-pendant-light.md) - [Balloon-Like Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-blown.md) - [Petal-Inspired Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloom-wall-light.md) - [Planetary Dual-Illumination Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbis-lamp.md)
