# Spherical Globe Lamps The 'Copycat' Lamp Pairs Two Orbs Together with Glass and Precious Metals By Cadhla Gray | Published 2015-10-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/globe-lamps References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2015/10/29/michael-anastassiades-sphere-copycat-lamp-flos/) & [michaelanastassiades](http://michaelanastassiades.com/) These round globe lamps take a modern look at a classic shape, pairing two different-sized spheres together to create an interesting design. Michael Anastassiades designed the 'Copycat' lamps for the Italian brand [Flos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flos), calling it an exercise in a "mathematical sequence." The globe lamps pair one larger sphere made of glass with a smaller sphere made up of a precious metal. The smaller sphere allows the LED light-containing globe to balance perfectly on a counter or tabletop. A beautiful juxtaposition of materials, the [illuminated glass orb](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-1) is partnered with one that is made of either 24 carat gold, shiny aluminum, copper or a black powder coated ball. The delicate lamps are perfect for any room, coming along with a dimmer to set various types of moods. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Round Globe Lamps:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new materials and combinations for globe lamp designs. - **Mathematical Sequence Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Apply mathematical principles to create unique and visually appealing lamp designs. - **Adjustable Mood Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced dimming and lighting control technology for customizable lighting experiences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate spherical globe lamps into lighting design for residential, commercial, and public spaces. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with designers to create spherical globe lamps that blend seamlessly with various interior styles. - **Luxury Goods:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create exclusive limited edition spherical globe lamps with precious metal combinations for luxury markets. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Horizontal Glass Sphere Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comet-pendant.md) - [Planetary Dual-Illumination Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbis-lamp.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Magnetic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbe.md) - [Calming Orb Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp1.md) - [Luxurious Futuristic Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/futuristic-table-lamp.md) - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md) - [Geometric Industrial Desktop Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-lamp.md) - [Structural Two-Part Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luno-lamp.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md)
