The [World Health Organization](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/goodville) recently launched a [social media campaign](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/public-education-campaign) to honor global health workers. In countries around the world, thousands of medical professionals are working to treat the sick and injured. Unfortunately, these workers are often caught in the cross-fire when conflict erupts.

The World Health Organization's new campaign aims to shed light on the work of these selfless healthcare professionals. The online campaign is known by the name '#ThanksHealthHero' and it aims to draw attention to the kinds of threats that global health workers face on a daily basis. The campaign gives people the opportunity to share photos of health workers and explain the importance of the work they do. People can also [share virtual Thank You cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thank-first-responders) on social media to help spread awareness.

By leveraging the power of social media, the new campaign helps to alert the public to the plight of international health workers.
