# Shiny Sequined Surface Sculptures Piles by Ornduvald is Composed of Giant Glitter Art Wall Murals By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-03-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glitter-art References: [yatzer](http://www.yatzer.com/piles-ornduvald) & [ornduvald.dk](http://www.ornduvald.dk/) The Piles glitter art installation project by Ornduvald is composed of three [wall murals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-time) entirely made out of 45,546 sparkly sequins. Meant to symbolize the giant piles of soil, water and rubble that was extracted from the construction site of the Copenhagen underground, the murals mirror mounds of dirt with an artistically abstract pixel design. At the same time, the glitter and glitz provides a stark contrast to the dusty grime of the construction zone. Passersby get a stunning glimpse at the wall art as the [sun reflects from the dangling sequins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflecting-diverseness) which create a completely mesmerizing view. Captivating in real life, the sparkles of the Piles glitter art installation move slightly with the wind, reflecting more light and brightness onto the streets of Copenhagen. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Glitter Art Installations:** Artists can create visually captivating experiences by incorporating sparkly materials into their installations. - **Pixel Design:** Using pixelated designs in artwork can create a visually abstract and unique aesthetic. - **Dynamic Art:** Artwork that interacts with environmental factors, such as wind, can create an immersive and ever-changing experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can explore new possibilities in incorporating glitter materials into their art installations. - **Construction and Architecture:** The construction and architecture industry can consider incorporating artistic elements into construction sites to enhance the visual appeal of urban spaces. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** The tourism and hospitality industry can utilize dynamic art installations as attractions to enhance the overall visitor experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nature-Inspired Urban Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kriskadecor-1.md) - [Intricate Lighting Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/objects-of-common-interest1.md) - [Permanent London Art Installtions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinite-accumulation.md) - [Desert Reflective Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shadow-travelling.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Artfully Rotating Glass Pillars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panorama.md) - [Gas Rig Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/striking-art-installation.md) - [Unique Interactive Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-aurora.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md)
