# Retro Rocket Toothbrush Photography Glen Mullaly Captured These Vintage Styled Photographs By Alyson Wyers | Published 2014-05-08 | Fashion Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glen-mullaly References: [boingboing.net](http://boingboing.net/2014/05/06/rocket-ship-toothbrush-holders.html) & [flickr](https://www.flickr.com/photos/glenmullaly/2226347144/in/faves-zerodiscipline/) This nostalgic Glen Mullaly photograph captures retro rocket ship toothbrush holders from the 1950s. While the maker of the holders is unknown, they clearly have an old school feel and were likely made before the moon landing. Back then when little boys dreamed of being astronauts, it wasn't a real job and these toothbrush holders likely played into those daydreams. The toothbrush holders were given as a gift to Glen Mullaly who snapped this shot after several attempts. The clear plastic covers can prove tricky with photography, as one must by mindful of flare and how the images appear when blown up. To get around this issue, the photography used a [vintage background](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smurfberry-toothpaste) to amp up the aged quality. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Retro Rocket-themed Decor:** Opportunity to create nostalgia-inspired home decor products that appeal to consumers who value the aesthetics of the past. - **Vintage-inspired Photography:** Opportunity to create vintage photography services, catering to the growing interest in nostalgia and retro themes. - **Retro Futuristic Design:** Opportunity to create products with a retro-futuristic twist, incorporating vintage design elements with cutting-edge technology. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Industry that can create home decor products that cater to consumers with an interest in retro aesthetics. - **Photography:** Industry that can create photography services catering to consumers who are fond of vintage aesthetics. - **Technology:** Industry that can create products that incorporate retro-futuristic design elements with modern technology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Self-Sterilizing Travel Toothbrushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plover-travel-toothbrush.md) - [Hot Pink Electric Toothbrushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barbie-electric-toothbrush.md) - [Vibrant Fruity Toothpastes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/happy-brush.md) - [Light Therapy Toothbrushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-therapy-toothbrush.md) - [Astronaut Night Light Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/night-light-projectors.md) - [Wireless Charging Electric Toothbrushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wireless-charging-electric-toothbrushes.md) - [Collaboration Toy Toothbrushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ordo-sonic-lite.md) - [Retro Space-Themed Puzzled Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-carter.md) - [Glowing Oral Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platinum-pro-glow-teeth.md)
